WHAT DO WE DO?
Big Fork Theatre is dedicated to collaborative, ensemble based improvised and sketch comedy. Big Fork produces GET IT* INYA a monthly experimental comedy show that provides opportunities for Brisbane's comedy community to perform brand new comedy in front of an enthusiastic and savvy audience. We debuted our improvised comedy show Cool Story Bro at the 2015 Brisbane Fringe Show - inspired by Chicago's Armando and New York's ASSSSSCAT, Cool Story Bro features a guest storyteller whose real life stories inspires our cast of improvisers.
Big Fork offers free weekly improv jams for Brisbane's growing comedy community. Every Tuesday the Theatre's experienced improvisers as well as special guest teachers lead a series of exercises and theatre games focused on exploring new and exciting elements of improvised theatre.
Big Fork Theatre founders Cameron Watson, Rosa Sottile, Taylor Edwards and Chris Martin have all travelled to America to train with leading improv institution iO (formerly Improv Olympic) founded by Charna Halpern and the late improv guru Del Close. Our team has also trained at the famed Upright citizens Brigade and The Second City Chicago. Big Fork founders have also worked with several leading improv teachers including Miles Stroth, the Hines Brothers, Kevin Mullaney (Under the Gun Theatre Chicago and former Artistic Director of UCB NYC), Joe Bill, Jet Eveleth, Tara DeFrancisco, Matt Higbee, Jason Shotts, Colleen Doyle, and the late Jason Chin.
