SPECIAL JAM - BREAK IT TO MAKE IT!
We are lucky to have Maurissa Afanador in Brisbane and available to deliver this 2 hour workshop before our shows start back on the 8th!
Break it to Make It
Most performance-level improvisers have a tool kit of approaches, choosing their instruments relative to the needs of each ensemble…if we are mindful. Mostly, however, we go on automatic and just do the thing that has worked for us time and again.
What if you were willing to break your patterns of comfort in order to bring your performance to the next level?
Maurissa will walk you through an organic improv method that demands mindfulness for its execution - though it requires absolutely nothing but your presence and your partner. You’ll seed a strong start, and build on this strong start with a writer’s efficiency without sacrificing your play and freedom as a player.
Recommended experience level: Group Mind OR a drive to level up.
Maurissa is the vendor-manager and lead improv instructor of The Arts at Google, theater program in Mountain View, CA.

BRISBANE - ONE DAY - CLOWN WORKSHOP by Piotr Sikora (Poland)
A one-day clown workshop with Piotr Szczęsny Sikora, creator of the punk-rock comedy show, Furiozo
Celebrate imperfection and turn failure into creative fuel through the power of clown. Discover the joy of being fully yourself under the spotlight, take risks, embrace the unexpected, and unlock your unique potential—on stage and in life!
All levels welcome.
The workshop aims to learn how to better make friends with our lack of being perfect, the part of us that is completely unfunny and funny, and learn to play with this imperfection, to use failure as a beautiful gift from the world.
This workshop helps you connect with this creativity and discover the pleasure of being yourself, when everyone is looking at you… Sounds scary? Only a bit, but mostly it is pure fun.
The course is intended to familiarise you with being yourself on stage, taking more risks both on stage and in life. A bit like learning to fall – when you know how to fall – you risk more, make different moves, and increase the range of your possibilities. It’s the same with the Being Bad course – through seemingly embarrassing practice situations, you learn exceptional stage and life sensitivity.
