You will wonder if they learned this stuff at school and you will quickly conclude no, they did not (again, except for one genuinely well educated person).

Big Fork Theatre is thrilled to once again partner with the BrisAsia Festival, Brisbane's premier annual celebration of Asian culture, contemporary arts, music, and cuisine.
We've proudly been part of the festival since 2022, and in 2027, we're launching a unique comedy competition for emerging Asian performers!
We're looking for new acts to compete in one of two heats at Big Fork Theatre. Performers will be judged by a panel of talented comedians, with one winner selected from each heat.
The winners will then be paid to perform a 5-minute set at the iconic Brisbane Powerhouse as part of our BrisAsia Comedy Gala! It's a fantastic opportunity to perform on a major stage, connect with new audiences, and raise your profile!
We're seeking performers who identify as Asian and can present a 5 to 10-minute comedic solo or group act in one of the following formats:
Improv
Sketch
Music
Slam poetry
Please note: we are not accepting stand-up comedy acts at this time, as we are aiming to showcase a broader variety of performance styles.
Performers must be at least 18 years old, identify as Asian, and available for one of the following heats at Big Fork Theatre:
Heat 1: 7pm Friday 20 November 2026
Heat 2: 7pm Sunday 22 November 2026
Winners must also be available to perform at the Brisbane Powerhouse in early February 2027 (exact date to be confirmed).
