Improvising and Cognition: Use Impro to Win at Work, Uni and School
Presented by Alastair Tomkins of ImproCOG (Brisbane/Meanjin) as part of the Big Fork Comedy Festival 2025.

Using impro' techniques, workshop participants will have an opportunity to experience firsthand how this style of learning aligns with and helps build 21st century skills (aka soft skills) of collaboration, creativity, communication, empathy and critical thinking. Several techniques explore divergent thinking and show how it can be used in creative writing, presenting in public, group work, and other settings. Participants will play some of the games and reflect on other cognitive elements during the workshop identifying how they can also be used in non-theatrical settings like school, uni and workplaces.

Workshop Length: 3 hours
Recommended experience level: Intermediate (1 - 3 years experience)
