SKETCH FEST 2024: Cheeky Moon: Hits & B-Sides & A New History of Humans

  • Big Fork Theatre 252 Saint Pauls Terrace Fortitude Valley, QLD, 4000 Australia (map)

Part of Sketch Fest 2024, a celebration of sketch comedy and a platform for new work 5-7 April.

A New History of Humans (Caitlin McGrath)

When the meteor hit the earth in the late 22nd century, humanity had to evolve quickly to survive. In this seminar, you will see newly discovered archived footage of some of the earliest hybrid human beings who emerged from this new world.

Caitlin McGrath is an improviser and sketch comedian who has trained and performed in Australia and overseas, including Belfast (Belfast Improv Comedy) and London (The Nursery). Most recently, she performed with Oh, Artemis Theatre Collective at the New Zealand Improv Festival (“impressive and absorbing… the cast are all excellent”- The Wellingtonista). You can now regularly find her writing silly sketches and making things up on the spot at her new comedy home, Big Fork Theatre in Brisbane.

Cheeky Moon: Hits & B-Sides (Claire Coe & Alastair Craig)

For 10 years Claire Coe and Alastair Craig have delighted audiences with their wordy comedy, unexpected emotional turns and weird siblings-or-dating energy. They've appeared on Funny or Die and won multiple awards for their YouTube series "IT'S A CULT!" — but you'll remember them best from their short film that screened aboard Carnival's "Big Nude Boat" Caribbean cruise.

This rare mini-set covers the most loved sketches from Cheeky Moon's first decade: a tasteful platter of British-inspired wit, reality-bending twists, bittersweet humanity and late '90s dance pop (sometimes all four within the same sentence).

“Hilarious and clever” - Tim Ferguson
“Sketches that deceive and surprise” - Scenestr
“Brilliantly clever comedy writing” - Brisbane Stage
“Two of the most original and inventive comedy writers we have seen” - Battle of the Sketches
